Releases were done manually, rarely and nervously: every release meant downtime and the risk of breaking production. The team kept postponing deliveries out of fear, which slowed down the whole product.

We containerised the application, ran it on managed Kubernetes and built a fully automated CI/CD pipeline, with testing, progressive deployment (rolling/blue-green) and instant rollback. Infrastructure is defined in code and reproducible.

The ability to ship daily accelerated the entire product cycle: user feedback reaches production in days, not months. The team gained confidence in its own process, and the rare incidents are resolved through instant rollback, with no panic and no lost nights.

To handle the peaks of a few months per year, the company kept oversized servers running all the time. The rest of the year, the capacity sat unused but fully billed.

We migrated the infrastructure to the cloud with autoscaling: resources grow automatically on demand during peaks and shrink the rest of the time. We optimised costs through right-sizing and spend monitoring.

Costs became correlated with real activity, freeing up budget for development. Infrastructure defined as code made any changes fast and reproducible, and peak periods are no longer a source of operational stress, but a scenario the system handles on its own.
